I was really struck, while we were talking about the issues our own churches fall into, by the assertion that any given structure is not inherently good or bad (media, tradition, emerging, etc). Rather, it’s the heart of the people involved that lend the structure its positive or negative qualities. I think that’s an important truth to grasp as we search for ecumenical ground.

I’m really excited about this class, especially because of the emphasis on personal interaction since I discover what I think about things while writing. I’m especially interested in community issues, learning how to do community as believers. Also, it’s surprising that Orientals have been misrepresented, and perhaps misperceived, by artists and ethnographers (or sociologists?) alike.
